A youthful Pompey side made easy work of Bognor Regis Town tonight as they ran out 4-1 winners at Nyewood Lane.
Conor Chaplin starred again as he bagged the first goal via a free kick and assisted Curtis Main for the second. Michael Smith scored the third from the spot after Ben Tollitt was brought down by Darren Budd and Adam May added some gloss to the scoreline with a strike from distance late on.
However, despite the emphatic scoreline, Pompey fans will mainly be talking about the goal that was conceded as yet again a simple corner couldn't be dealt with and Paul Jones fumbled the ball straight into Harvey Whyte's path and he had the simple task of scoring.
That will do nothing to raise Paul Cook's confidence in Jones as he looks to bring a new goalkeeper in. The first team will be expected to play the final friendly at Ashton Gate on Saturday. Will there be a new man between the sticks then?
