Pompey have signed Berlin Ndebe-Nlome on a permanent basis having recieved a work permit to play in this country. But just who is Berlin?
It's hard to dig up any sort of information about this mysterious player. What is known about him is that he's an 18-year-old Cameroon striker that we had on trial to initially make up the numbers as we were looking for new signings. Harry has confirmed that we have signed him after he gained a work permit and thinks he has potential to become a decent player.
Berlin scored a chip against Torquay and took part in a lot of pre-season but looked average according to "The Quay". I can back that up from what I've seen of him in the reserves as he hasn't really done much to impress me. Harry rates him though and he believes he's ready to go on loan to a league club.
Step forward Kevin Bond perhaps? The ex-Pompey and Newcastle assistant manager recently took the managers job at Bournemouth and lost 1-0 away to Millwall in his first game in charge.
Whatever happens I don't think we'll be seeing any of Berlin for the time being. What's the odds on him being forgotten or "moving on" after this season? Not that it will matter as we signed him for nothing and might even get some money for him.
So who knows? Is Ndebe-Nlome the real deal or will he be another Sebastian Olzar? Only time will tell...
