Where Are They Now?

Although the Premiership season doesn't start until next week, that hasn't stopped those down in the lower leagues getting cracking. Bless 'em, trying to convince themselves they're "the real fans" because a Coca Cola advert told them so. Enough of that anyway - no surprises that there's a lot of ex-Portsmouth players floating around down there and, given how it's the start of a new season and a few have moved, I thought I'd let you know how they're getting on. I'm good to you aren't I?

The Championship
- Nigel Quashie captained Southampton in their 0-0 draw with Wolves. Predictably, he hit an optimistic long shot. Ricardo Fuller also played and, even more predictably, blasted wide two great chances.
- Kevin Harper had a day to forget for Stoke as he came on with twenty minutes to play against Sheffield Wednesday - and duly twatted a penalty high and wide. Lewis Buxton was brought into the action after only quarter of an hour in the 0-0 draw.
- Markus "I played forty minutes at Coventry" Heikkinen played the whole match for Luton in their unlikely 2-1 win away at Crystal Palace. Rowan Vine was an unused substitute.
- Richard Duffy played all ninety minutes, earning a booking in the process, as Coventry drew 1-1 at promotion favourites Norwich.
- Old team-mates Jamie Vincent and Shaun Derry could face up to each other today as Leeds take on Millwall. Steve Stone is out injured for the home side, whilst Sammy Igoe could also make an appearance for "The Wall".

League One
- Deon Burton came head to head with ex-team mate Paul Merson, now manager at Walsall. Although Merse didn't play his team clinched an injury time 2-1 win.
- John Curtis celebrated his new two year deal at Nottingham Forest as they got their League One campaign off to a successful start, beating Huddersfield 2-1.
- Eddie Howe earned himself a booking as Bournemouth fought from 2-0 down to rescue a 2-2 draw against MK Dons.

League Two
- Ex-Pompey players galore at Oxford United; Lee Bradbury and Matt Robinson both played 90 minutes whilst Chris Tardif warmed the bench for their 1-1 draw with Grimsby.
- Tom Curtis was booked in Chester's 1-0 away win at Peterborough.

Scottish Premier League
- Former loanee Scott Wilson lasted a full 24 minutes before being sent off for Dunfermline. Despite the late introduction of Mark Burchill, Dunfermline still caved in and conceded a 90th minute strike to go down 1-0 in front of a mighty 4,000 crowd. And who says Scottish football is a joke.
- Steve Lovell failed to score for his new side as Aberdeen crashed at home, losing 2-1 to Kilmarnock.

Scottish Division One
- Once a stronghold for players who'd once worn the royal blue, Dundee now only have Garry Brady left. He featured in their 3-2 win over St Mirren.

Non-league
- Andy Awford and Robbie Pethick both played in Havant and Waterlooville's 1-0 defeat to Stevenage Borough, their last pre-season friendly.
