Adam Webster has signed a new two-year-deal with Portsmouth.
The academy graduate was out-of-contract in the summer but Paul Cook was eager to keep him at Pompey which speaks volumes given the amount of players he released recently, including fellow youngster Dan Butler.
It seems like Webster has been around for a long time but he is still only 20-years-old and has plenty of time to improve his game. He hasn't particularly performed well at right back during his time at the club but has shown some potential at centre back whih happens to be his natural position.
He could get some game time in his favoured position given that Jack Whatmough will miss the first part of the season through injury. However, it seems like Paul Cook has other plans for the centre back position in his team as it is being reported today that a fee and personal terms have been agreed with Peterborough defender Christian Burgess.
The 23-year-old has been targeted by the Pompey manager for his ability to play the ball out of defence and Posh director Barry Fry confirmed that he will be having a medical at Fratton Park when his holiday is finished.
