Adam Webster is set to secure a move to Ipswich Town with Matt Clarke coming to Portsmouth permanently along with a transfer fee as part of the deal.
The 21-year-old has impressed Mick McCarthy as he finally broke into the Pompey side as a centre back this season. Whilst it will be a shame to see him leave, Clarke has also been excellent during his loan stay and at 19-years-old he could have even more potential than Webster.
It will be interesting to see if the fee is disclosed for this deal and just how Cook intends to spend it. Another centre back will have to be signed (unless youth product Calvin Davies makes the step up) but that money could go towards a commanding goalkeeper or a striker capable of scoring at least 20 goals next season. Those positions should be top priority when it comes to strengthening the squad.
The Webster-Clarke deal is set to be confirmed tomorrow and marks what will be another busy summer for Paul Cook.
