Pompey have confirmed the loan signing of 21-year-old Belgian Anthony Vanden Borre from Genoa with an option to buy after the season has ended.
Vanden Borre is known as a very attack minded right back who is probably more suited to a right midfield role. I don't know much else about the player as I don't follow his previous clubs in Fiorentina or Genoa but I do remember that he was amazing as a 16-year-old on LMA Manager 2004 and I always used to sign him!
It's safe to say that he hasn't fulfilled his early promise but he'll have as point to prove and this can only be seen as a positive move from Paul Hart as it will ease the right wing burden on John Utaka or whoever else Hart was thinking of playing there.
It's a gamble, just like the rest of our signings but if Vanden Borre is as positive as people say he is and he has a bit of fight about him then this will be another step forward in what promises to be a tough fight for Premier League survival this season.
Welcome to Portsmouth, Anthony.
