Pompey were beaten by one of Mexico's top sides in San Diego last night following a gruelling 42 hour journey.
Steve Cotterill's squad was so threadbare that he had to play Matt Ritchie and Hayden Mullins as full backs, whilst trialist Stephen Jordan, formerly of Burnley, also played.
There were also places in the team for youngsters Tom Kilbey and Nadir Ciftci, whilst Wilson, Brown, Hughes, Smith and Nugent also took part in the match.
Pompey were a goal behind after Enrique Esqueda rounded Liam O'Brien and slotted in the opener after 15 minutes. Israel Martinez got the second goal just a couple of minutes later.
Tom Kilbey pulled one back after the break although replays showed he was offside, whilst Jon Stewart, the replacement for O'Brien at half-time made a few fine saves to keep Pompey in it.
The men donning Pompey's FA Cup Final kit could not find another goal though and so the match ended with a defeat, although Steve Cotterill was quick to praise his men for the performance after such a long trip to the USA.
