Speculation! Speculation!
We've had enough transfer speculation this season to last us a decade, but alas, there is yet more of it to entertain the minds of Pompey fans in a spin-off article of Transfer Tales.
Let's start with a player that we all would like to see stay at Fratton Park; Andres D'Alessandro. Quickly endearing himself to the Fratton Faithful after a breathtaking debut followed by a couple of anonymous games, he is now showing the true quality he possesses after giving opposition defences a torrid time and delivering quality service to the strikers. I am particularly impressed with the way he holds the ball upfield allowing other players to support an attack.
Harry wants him to stay, and I'm sure any Pompey fan would want him to stay too. However the first problem to overcome would be the fact that Andres has expressed his desire to return to Germany after the season is over so he is closer to his wife and new child. However, we know how persuasive Harry can be and should we stay up who knows? He might change his mind. As for the other problem, a player of his quality would cost us quite a bit of money seeing as Wolfsburg paid about £6 million for him. But then that figure would surely be in our reach now with Gaydamak's backing?
Onto the next player being talked about in the papers. Any regular readers of Fratton Faithful know that I am a Brian Priske fan. So I wasn't best pleased to see him being linked to Serie A side Sampdoria. I take speculation with a pinch of salt but I'd hate to see arguably our best defender leave in the summer if we survived the drop. He has a lot to offer Pompey I feel so hopefully Harry won't perform too much major surgery and will let Priske continue his first team role at right back.
And finally... suprise suprise! Amdy Faye has been linked with a return to Fratton Park again! Do these lazy journalists have anything better to do?....
...I think I've just answered my own question there!
