After reading the local rag once again it seems like the injury curse has hit Pompey at the wrong time. The Chelsea match took a few casualties and now our injury list has grown. Obviously some of them are minor but here's the full injury list.

That's quite a list isn't it? Alright the injuries to Benjani, Hughes, Primus and O'Neil only seem minor thankfully but for the sake of this article here is the likely Pompey first team with all of those injuries taken into account:

CB: Andy O'Brien
CB: Azar Karadas
RB: Gregory Vignal
LM: Andres D'Alessandro
CM: Pedro Mendes
CM: Sean Davis
RM: Wayne Routledge
ST: Lomana Lua Lua

Now arguably we haven't really weakened much in midfield (minus O'Neil) and the two strikers would actually be my first choice partnership. So looking at that part of the squad it's safe to say we have relative strength in depth, especially comapred to our first season in the top flight where we sometimes struggled to put a team out.
Now look how weak the defence is.. Vignal is only average at left back so you can imagine how bad he'd be at right back! Having Karadas in defence doesn't exactly fill me with confidence either. And just looking at that subs bench sends a chill down my spine!
So please Pompey.. no more injuries and let's hope that those injured get back to full fitness fast for the battle ahead!
