Peter Storrie has virtually confirmed what everyone believed already: Jermain Defoe wants to leave Portsmouth.
Speaking about the transfer window opening today, the Pompey Executive Chairman has been speaking about the players who want to leave the club with Defoe heading the list.
He said: "It looks like Jermain wants to go, that is something we will be speaking to him about. But if Jermain goes it will be at our price and if there is an offer which appeals."
Storrie has also branded the rumours of Harry Redknapp coming in with a £30 million bid for Defoe, Crouch and Johnson as "farcical".
Richard Duffy, Lauren and Djimi Traore look certain to leave the club with Jean-Francois Christophe already having signed for Southend permanently. Nobody will miss any of those players but Pompey fans will also be bidding farewell to Hermann Hreidarsson who has confirmed he still wants to leave the club.
He said: "I have been in contact with a few clubs and I fully expect to be at another club come the end of the month." It's a shame that Hermann is leaving as he's always been solid at left back and given our defensive problems I really think he should have been playing there with Belhadj pushing forward.
Storrie assures the fans that there will be arrivals to compensate for the imminent departures and I sincerely hope that is the case because if not then we'll almost be certainties for relegation simply because we won't have enough players to put on the pitch!
