Stone returns to Villa

Stone, who was on a one month loan deal at Fratton Park, will be sidelined with the injury for at least a fortnight.

The midfielder was hoping to extend his stay with Pompey when his initial month came to a close on Saturday.

Aston Villa boss Graham Taylor said: “It’s frustrating for all parties really. I think there was interest in extending the loan move and that could still happen. But for now, we’ll just concentrate on getting Steve fit again.”
