Former England international and Pompey forward Len Phillips has sadly passed away today at the age of 89.
Len was the last remaining player of Portsmouth's championship winning side of 1948/1949 and 1949/1950 before his death, bringing an end to an era of Pompey greats truly worthy of their legendary status at the club.
He made 268 appearances for Pompey, scoring 62 goals during his eight year spell at the club. Those who were fortunate enough to see him play say he was an amazing talent who was a cut above the rest whilst people who knew him off the pitch and fought alongside him during the war say he was a gentleman.
The thoughts of all Pompey fans go out to Len's family as they mourn him.
