Harry Redknapp has confirmed that he is interested in signing Eidur Gudjohnsen if Peter Crouch cannot be persuaded to return to Fratton Park.
The 29-year-old Barcelona striker has been told he can leave the Nou Camp and the Pompey manager says that the Icelander is a "proper player". The ex-Chelsea star is rumoured to be available for around £4 million, despite heavy wages but Harry will have to do some convincing to bring him to Pompey.
Crouch is still the number one target though and Harry has hinted that we may be trying to haggle Liverpool to less than the £10 million they are asking for. Whether Peter Storrie can convince their owners to sell for less than they are demanding remains to be seen.
Whatever happens there it looks certain that Milan Baros will not be coming back to Portsmouth as Lyon have made a statement claiming that Pompey won't be following up the loan deal with an offer for a permanent transfer.
I don't think that news will surprise anyone after failing to find the net during his time down here but I wish him well wherever he ends up as he did work hard for us.
In other news, Niko Kranjcar will be playing in the quarter finals of Euro 2008 after Croatia recorded a very impressive 2-1 victory over Germany today. The Pompey midfielder played well but had a couple of very good chances to score so hopefully the scouts would have been put off by that.
