Redknapp wants to sign Martin Keown, released from Arsenal over the summer, on a one-year contract.
However, chairman Milan Mandaric is stalling over whether to authorise the signing of a player who will be 38 years old come the start of the 2004/2005 season.
However, Redknapp is adament that the centre-back can steer Portsmouth to another season of Premiership survival, saying that: "Martin Keown wouldn't have played for Arsenal last season if Arsene Wenger didn't think he was good enough for the top flight."
Of course, Keown didn't play very much for Arsenal at all last season, only just getting enough games for a Champion's medal, but that's by the by.
Harry Redknapp also vented his frustration and his inability to galvanise his strike force so far, with Paul Dickov joining Blackburn and talks over Lomana Lua-Lua hitting the skids over Newcastle's askin price for the Congo international.
