As suggested by yesterday's rumours, David Nugent could well by Harry Redknapp's next summer signing after Preston confirmed that Pompey were in talks with the England striker after Sunderland pulled out of the race to sign him yesterday.
The 22-year-old has been coveted by many Premiership clubs and it's reported that North End have accepted our offer for him in the range of 6 to million pounds.
Nugent is currently in talks with the club and I'd expect that his signing will go through, unless Everton come in and scupper the deal, as the striker has previously revealed his dream of playing for the club he supports, although the Toffees would have to match our bid for the promising youngster.
Some media reports suggested that a deal for Nugent would be completed today after a medical, but it's more likely that the transfer will be completed later in the week should the ex-Bury man decide to join the Pompey revolution.
In other news, Pompey are supposedly close to wrapping up a £2 million deal for Arnold Mvuemba from Rennes after impressing during his loan spell last season.
