Andrew Andronikou has made the announcement today to expect another announcement shortly regarding the new owner of Portsmouth Football Club.
Reports this morning had the administrator of UHY Hacker Young claiming that he would have "news from the outside world" in seven to ten days but when quizzed by a Sky Sports News presenter later today, he suggested that the identity of the potential new owner (or owners) could be revealed within the next 48 hours.
He has given us some clues as to who might take over by saying that they are new to football, aren't Russian and hadn't been linked to the club previously.
There have been the inevitable rumours doing the rounds as you'd expect. Ex-Hull City chairman Paul Duffen was linked but he has denied any involvement whilst the wealthy Italian Bennetton family have also been mentioned.
People claim to be "in the know" but it seems like we are likely to know the identity of what could be a single owner or a "mystery consortium" sooner rather than later with deals to be done in the transfer window.
Admin Andy has also stated that the prominent interested party has the funds to take over the club and now has to pass the Football League's reliable-as-ever "owners and directors test" (should be easy, maybe the new owner will be Kim Jong-Un?)
Whoever it is, let's just hope they have some money they are prepared to invest (doesn't have to be billions), aren't alleged criminals and they actually exist!
