The Football League have confirmed that Portsmouth Football Club will be deducted ten points for the upcoming 2012/2013 season.
Whoever ends up owning the club will have to accept numerous conditions if Pompey are to play in League One this season, one of which is the points deduction.
The other conditions are based on all football creditors being paid in full and operating on constraints for the next five years, but the most interesting condition is that only a "limited proportion" of the secured debt can be carried over to the "new" Portsmouth FC.
Therefore, Balram Chainrai and co. could well be owed much less under the new agreement once it is finalised by Trevor Birch and may even mean the club is more attractive to prospective buyers and easier for the Trust to purchase.
Unfortunately, this announcement has left our football club in a right state. With only eight senior players and now starting on minus ten points, Michael Appleton now has a monumental task in attracting new players to the club and keeping it in League One.
This kind of news would usually spark mass anger and horror amongst fans of most clubs but we have been through this so many times now that it's simply another punch to take and get up from, as if we'll all have to sign that famous Chumbawumba song.
One day, just one day, there might be some positive news to come out of this football club...
