Portsmouth have been handed a trip to St. James' Park to play Exeter City for their first match of the 2014/2015 season.
Anyone who went there last season may be grateful that those who will brave the Grecians' shallow away terrace will have less chance of getting rained on with the match due to be played on August 9th.
Pompey's first home match of the season is against newly promoted Cambridge United. This will be a difficult game as the U's will be on a high after getting out of non-league and the novelty of playing in front of what should be an 18,000+ crowd will also boost them.
The Blues will once again be at home on Boxing Day with AFC Wimbledon the visitors and Pomey fans will then face their first trip to Luton since 1995 two days later.
There is no match on New Year's Day this upcoming season with relegated Tranmere Rovers due to visit Fratton Park on January 3rd instead. That date has also been reserved for the FA Cup third round matches so that match will be postponed if either side is fortunate enough to go on a little cup run.
Pompey haven't been to Cambridge's Abbey Stadium since the year 2000 but will return there on February 21st whilst the longest jaunt of the season to Carlisle takes place on Easter Saturday (April 4th).
The fixture computer has been kind to us with more Tuesday night games at home than on the road and those games are fairly local with trips to Dagenham, Northampton and Stevenage in the pipeline but not until February 2015.
Pompey's final away game is at Mansfield whose away end has the capacity to host plenty of Pompey fans who will hopefully have a good reason to party.
The final fixture is at home to York City and those mentalists who cycled all the way to Bury last season have already decided to ride from York to Fratton Park this time around. Hopefully they'll arrive to a celebratory atmosphere with promotion to League One won before then or on the day!
