Pompey have secured the signatures of promising youngsters Paris Cowan-Hall and Callum Reynolds from BlueSquare Premier Division (formerly Conference National) side Rushden & Diamonds.
Cowan-Hall is a 16-year-old striker and Reynolds is a 17-year-old defender and both players will work with Paul Hart, who will know something about the players having been the manager of Rushden in 2006. Both players are said to be very promising according to people associated with the BlueSquare club but I don't expect to see either in the full first team for at least a couple of seasons.
Speaking of youth, Czech starlet 21-year-old Jiri Kladrubsky has revealed that he passed up the opportunity to sign for Pompey and has joined Sparta Prague instead because he believes the Premier League is a too big of a step up from the Czech league.
