Pompey Smash Rocks

Pompey recorded their second win in pre-season with a comfortable victory at Bognor Regis.

Ryan Taylor opened the scoring on 24 minutes after finishing Miles Storey's cross and then just two minutes later the Swindon loanee doubled the lead with a neat finish from the right.

Bognor pulled one back as Parsons went through on goal and rounded Paul Jones before slotting into an empty net. However, Andy Awford's men went into the break two goals up as Ricky Holmes' free kick hit the wall but the loose ball was fired in by Danny Hollands.

A much changed Pompey team emerged for the second half but the goals kept coming as youngsters Jack Maloney and Bradley Tarbuck combined to score the fourth goal on 56 minutes, with the former producing the through ball for the latter to finish.

Andy Barcham netted the fifth by sliding in Jed Wallace's cross and Wallace bagged a goal for himself with five minutes to go after receiving the ball from Patrick Agyemang and lashing it past the Bognor keeper.

Whilst nothing should be read into pre-season results it is nice to see Pompey win so handsomely again and there are no injuries to report either.

It was also good to see that the whole squad was recognisable and the youth were given a chance today with goalkeeper Alfie Bass making his first Portsmouth appearance today. Looking at Blackpool's team for their pre-season today with five trialists in the starting eleven reminds me that it wasn't so long ago that Pompey were in a very similar position.

Pompey's next friendly is on Tuesday evening away at Thurrock.
