Paul Cook has completed his sixth summer signing as Milan Lalkovic has joined Portsmouth on a two-year-deal.
The 23-year-old Slovakian winger officially joined after compensation was agreed with previous club Walsall. Lalkovic is said to have wanted to leave the Saddlers as they failed to show ambition in recent times and the lure of Pompey, despite being a league lower, was a move he couldn't turn down.
With eight goals last season, the former U-21 international is now arguably Pompey's biggest flair player in a squad that already contains plenty of wingers in Gary Roberts, Kyle Bennett, Gareth Evans and Ben Tollitt. He seems to be an exciting player so hopefully he can do plenty of damage in League Two.
With the squad back for pre-season training today, there was another new face in trialist Roarie Deacon who is a free agent after his release from Crawley in the summer. The defender/striker scored five goals in 40 games last season.
Ben Davies also confirmed via his twitter account that he won't be at Pompey next season and it looks like he will be signing for Grimsby Town soon. He thanked everyone at Portsmouth for their support and although he will be missed, he did show signs of slowing down towards the end of the season and that is perhaps why Cook never gave the 35-year-old a two-year contract.
We still await Danny Hollands's new deal...
