Shaun Cooper and Yassin Moutaouakil have returned to the club that once shunned them as Guy Whittingham looks to strengthen his squad.
Cooper has joined on a one-month loan from Crawley having been released by Pompey in 2005. He only made six appearances during his first spell at the club and was loaned to Kidderminster and Leyton Orient before moving to Bournemouth permanently.
A couple of Cherries fans I have spoken to describe Cooper as a "no frills" player who will do the basics well. The 29-year-old can play as a defensive midfielder but given how many of them are already at the club it is likely he will make his debut on Saturday at centre back.
Moutaouakil (good luck pronouncing that in conversation!) was once on trial with Pompey before the start of the 2009/2010 season but Paul Hart decided against signing him and he signed for Motherwell on loan from Charlton instead.
The former French under-21 right back had previously played for Conference side Hayes & Yeading but it is difficult to guage opinion on the Frenchman as he has only made 85 appearances in nearly a decade despite being only 26-years-old. Who knows how he will fare at League One level?
In addition to the arrivals of Cooper and Moutaouakil, the signings of Sam Sodje and Sunderland youngster Adam Reed have also been confirmed.
Johnny Ertl and Darel Russell have also been offered new deals with Pompey whilst Dan Butler has been loaned to Havant & Waterlooville for a month.
