Pompey suffered another embarrassing pre-season defeat in Cadiz today, losing 5-1 to Championship side Brighton.
Goals from Will Hoskins and Matt Sparrow put the Seagulls in control against Michael Appleton's trialists and youths. Vicente scored a belter to make the score 3-0 but youngster Dan Thompson pulled one back on the stroke of half-time.
Any hopes of a comeback were completely dashed three minutes into the second half when Romain Vincelot headed in a free kick and then Torbjorn Agdestein scored before the hour to complete the rout.
According to social media, the scoreline is slightly harsh on Pompey as they created a fair few chances in the sweltering heat but an inexperienced and forever changing backline were always liable to concede goals ans Gus Poyet's side certainly did just that.
The team (if you could describe a group of trialists and youngsters as that) will now return back to Portsmouth to train with the remaining senior players on the books at the club before the next friendly at Aldershot on August 1st.
