Andy Awford has made his second summer signing (or third if you count Shorey's new contract) in free agent goalkeeper Paul Jones.
It should be noted that Jones is NOT the same goalkeeper who used to play for Southampton years ago as he is only 27-years-old and played every game for Crawley last season.
Jones has had experience at Championship and League One level and is very highly regarded by Exeter fans with one I know claiming "he is far too good for League Two" and so at 6' 2'' tall he looks like an outstanding signing on paper.
Awford would like to sign another goalkeeper but it looks like that won't be Trevor Carson or Jamie Ashdown now as they will surely seek first team football at their stages of their careers.
In other transfer news, Bondz N'Gala hasn't been offered a new contract at Pompey for the simple reason that Awford cannot accomodate five centre backs in his squad.
With Jack Whatmough's and Sonny Bradley's potential, Ben Chorley's leadership qualities and Joe Devera's improved performances in the latter stage of last season, it makes sense to get rid of the least consistent performer of the bunch especially as he was out of contract anyway. He may still be present at pre-season but it's expected he will move on and find another club.
In even more transfer news, talks with Jed Wallace about signing a new contract will take place this week as Awford looks to convince him to stay at the club whilst there have been no offers for Sonny Bradley despite reports claiming the contrary.
Will there be any more signings before the week is out?
