Pompey winger Jack Compton has signed a permanent deal with Colchester United and will join his new team in January.
Defender Josh Thompson, currently on loan with the U's, has also been offered a permanent contract which he is expected to sign after guy Whittingham admitted he could leave.
Pompey fans probably won't be too sad to see Compton go as he was too inconsistent despite having some pace and the ability to deliver the odd decent cross. However, he would often go missing in games and end up being taken off for his lack of impact.
Thompson was impressive during pre-season but the Portsmouth fans haven't had the chance to get a good look at the former Celtic centre back. Only time will tell if the Pompey management will regret this decision when the likes of Gabor Gyepes leave next month.
The departures do mean that Whittingham will have the chance to bring in his own players in January that he and his team feel will improve the squad.
But what are the odds on Compton or Thompson coming back to haunt Pompey on February 2nd?
