Ibrahima Sonko has signed for Pompey on a season-long loan from Stoke City after approval from the Football League.
The 29-year-old Senegalese defender was rumoured to be have stolen from under the noses of Pompey by Bristol City boss Steve Coppell, who worked with him at Reading.
I think this is a very shrewd move by Steve Cotterill. Sonko was one of Reading's most important players when they won the Championship with a record points total and he should still be very capable at this level.
The only real downside to this deal is that Sonko has had his injury problems in recent years, hence why he hasn't featured much for his parent club.
Given our current lack of centre backs (and players full stop) at the moment we certainly need him!
Welcome to the madhouse, Superman!
