Pompey Face D-Day Tomorrow

Last updated : 08 September 2010 By Jim Bonner
The Football League will meet tomorrow to decide whether Portsmouth FC will be granted their Championship share.

Should it be granted, then Pompey will have their registration embargo lifted and the club is then available for purchase by Balram Chainrai. David Lampitt will also be able to do his job as C.E.O properly, without the need for UHY Hacker Young.

Andrew Andronikou today dismissed Tom Lever's bid to buy the club as he has yet to place any money into a bank account, though Tom was surprised at the dismissal after claiming that Andronikou assured him that "things were going well."

Andronikou said: "I was hoping these would be the real deal - but they definitely are not. Let's move on and leave these behind."

With regards to the Football League's decision, it looks certain that Pompey will be granted their share after the CVA was successfully passed, and Balram Chainrai should pass the new "owners and directors test" without any problem.

Of course, Tom could buy the club straight from Chainrai and would become the new owner that way.

But if all goes to Andronikou's plan, Chainrai and Levi Kushnir will effectively own the club by September 14th (next Tuesday), though nothing is ever straightforward with Pompey so expect one last twist in the tale before then.
