Tony Adams has revealed that Pompey have not been chasing Andrew Surman, but are instead after 19-year-old winger Nathan Dyer.
Adams travelled to St. Mary's Stadium to run the rule over Dyer who has been likened to Shaun Wright-Phillips and is in the final year of his current deal.
I'll admit that I've been impressed with Dyer when I've seen him play for Hampshire's second side and I'm sure that he is destined for bigger and better things than Southampton FC.
Whether we'll follow up our interest is anyone's guess but we'll need a right winger during the African Nations Cup with John Utaka gone. I guess that just makes Gary O'Neil's sale even more baffling seeing as Lauren shouldn't play right midfield!
Taking him from St. Mary's is only going to annoy the Scummers even more after we poached Cranie but I'm sure if we did go for him it would be because Harry thought he was a decent player and not just to spite his former club...
....or would he?
