Pompey have completed the loan signing of Swansea defender Daniel Alfei on a one-month-deal.
The Welsh Under-21 international is a right back by trade and should go straight into the starting eleven to play Accrington Stanley on Saturday.
Alfei spent last season on loan at Wrexham and one of their fans has told me that he didn't particularly stand out at Conference level and to not expect anything spectacular despite his experience at Premier League and international youth level.
However, given that Richie Barker wants Joe Devera to play alongside Sonny Bradley at centre back, doesn't rate Yassin Moutaouakil and currently has Danny East injured then the move for a temporary right back makes sense.
It is also reported that Barker is chasing the signature of Bournemouth midfielder Wes Fogden.
The 25-year-old made his name at Havant & Waterlooville before moving to the Cherries in 2011 but has suffered with injuries during his tenure there.
He's a hard working player who likes to do a lot of running and has an eye for goal so could well be Jed Wallace's replacement if he ends up leaving Portsmouth as expected this month.
