Romain Padovani has left Portsmouth by mutual consent with a year remaining on his contract.
The 24-year-old flattered to deceive during his time at Pompey despite being one of the shining talents in training. Good performances from the Frenchman were few and far between as he struggled to cope with the pace and the physicality of the English game and that would be underlined by just the one goal he scored; a scrappy winner against Dagenham & Redbridge on Boxing Day.
Undoubtedly he has some talent but he needs too much time on the ball so it wouldn't be surprising to see him play in the French lower leagues next year.
Padovani's depature means that Andy Awford's squad is now short on centre midfielders with only Johnny Ertl, Danny Hollands and Nigel Atangana available in that position, although Wes Fogden and Jed Wallace could potentially play in the centre too.
Expect more recruitments to arrive in the near future.
