Erik Huseklepp has joined Birmingham City on loan for the rest of the season with a view to a permanent deal.
The Norwegian has joined the Blues to get him off the wage bill as Trevor Birch continues to cut costs at Pompey.
With one going out, Michael Appleton has moved to borrow 21-year-old Scott Allan from his pal Roy Hodgson at West Bromwich Albion, subject to football league approval.
I'm disappointed to see Huseklepp go as on his day he was an excellent player who brought some pace to the team and was capable of producing something out of the ordinary.
However, he is wasteful and there were games this season where he went missing and didn't contribute anything, so this may not be a fatal blow to our as some fans might think.
Not much is known about Allan. The Scot is formerly of Dundee United, plays in midfield and was charged with assault (later dropped) two years ago.
He has one goal in his career, scored whilst at loan at Forfar Athletic last season but he was sought after by the Old Firm before joining Albion last month.
There may be more player departures in the near future as more cash will have to be saved if Pompey are to fulfil their fixtures for the rest of the season.
