Norwich vs Portsmouth match preview

Pompey travel to Carrow Road on Saturday knowing that they face a team who, along with their newly promoted brothers, have yet to win a Premiership match. However this doesn't quite make it the one-sided match it may sound. After all, the Canaries have played away at Manchester United, Newcastle and Tottenham - no easy task.

The problem comes that Norwich will also see this as their perfect chance to get off the mark. After all, we only won three games away from home last season, and one of those was in the Carling Cup. Along with our current run of two consecutive league defeats, Nigel Worthington and his players may start to get a sniff of three points.

For Pompey, it should be pretty much the same team that lost to Everton. It seems likely that Kamara will come in for Fuller for his first league start, whilst it is unknown whether or not Steve Stone will play a part - some reports say he's recovered from his achilles injury, whilst local radio reckon he hasn't made it. Linvoy Primus will start in defence against the club who he rejected in the summer, preferring instead to commit his future to Fratton for another two years.

Look out for former Pompey striker Matthias Svensson, who occasionally features for Norwich. Huckerby and Mackenzie are likely to start, which means the former car salesman will be on the bench at best.

Both teams will be looking at this game hopefully. Having said that, this game isn't so much "must win" for us, as "would prefer not to lose". Three points on the road is always a bonus, but to come back empty handed would be a big disappointment. Norwich are being tipped by quite a few people for this match, but don't count out Pompey to go and spring a minor surprise. At least let's hope we do better than our last three visits; 0-0, 0-0, and a 1-0 defeat.
