Paul Hart has made his fourth signing of the summer by bringing ex-Southampton 'keeper Antti Neimi out of retirement and to Fratton Park for a year.
The 37-year-old retired last year after a serious knee injury but Hart has convinced him to take a bench role at Pompey to provide backup for David James, which would allow Asmir Begovic to go out on loan and Jamie Ashdown to leave permanently.
It's difficult to envisage Pompey fans cheering a player who is held in such high regard by our friends down the road and a player who we have chanted "Scummer" at down the years.
But the bottom line is that he is now representing a superior club and we must support him when he is called into action (which hopefully won't be often) this season. I fear for him because if he makes a bad start to his stint at Pompey then the fans are going to be unforgiving because of his history.
You never know though, he might end up making a crucial save or two during the upcoming season. I do wonder what the Scummers make of Antti's decision to join their arch rivals?
In other transfer news, Arnold Mvuemba has had his contract terminated by mutual consent and Peter Storrie says that David James, Sylvain Distin and Niko Kranjcar will all be staying at Fratton Park and interest in all three players has been turned away recently.
Welcome to Pompey, Antti.
