As I went to log onto the official Pompey website an hour or so ago I was greeted with the "New Look Site Launching" message which was accompanied by a horrible looking badge that I dreaded to think would replace the old Pompey logo.
However, it seems that after just over two years of modifying the current badge that has been a favourite for so many Pompey fans over the years, that it's being changed again to something that looks like the City Council logo and the first badge that Pompey used.
Yet another new away strip was launched today with this new abomination etched on it and you may have even seen a giant shirt fly high in the sky today to mark this dawning of yet another "new era".
They say that the new look is "to celebrate 110 years of Portsmouth Football Club" although that message could easily be translated into "to squeeze every last penny out of our already poor supporters."
Then there's that very strong rumour (virtually almost confirmed) that our home kit next season will be all blue and so the white shorts and red socks will be gone.
The move has angered many fans who didn't have a say on any of these changes, probably because the club knew that if we did, the majority would have opposed such a radical change to our image.
I'm just hoping and praying that this crest is just used for next season as a "celebration" and that we can return to our current crest which is by far the best we've had in our history my opinion.
But instead it wouldn't surprise me to see the club take on the "don't change our tradition" complaints too far and then we'll end up seeing Jermain Defoe run out at Fratton Park in a salmon pink shirt in 2010!
