Sulley Muntari has completed his transfer to Inter Milan for a fee of around £12.7 million. The Ghanaian midfielder has signed a four year deal with the Italian Champions.
Muntari revealed it was a wrench to leave a club where he respected the manager and the fans so much but after failing to join Manchester United because of work permit issues, he wasn't going to pass up a second opportunity to join a massive club.
I wish him all the best at Inter and I'll be following his progress in the Champions League. I think he will develop into a top class player at the San Siro and I am disappointed that we rarely saw the best of him.
Like I mentioned before though, £12.7 million is a great price for a currently inconsistent player that often gave away needless fouls and sometimes was guilty of wayward passing.
There will be good memories though, the best being that penalty he rifled in at Old Trafford whilst his two goals at Villa Park were simply stunning.
Now we have pocketed a handsome profit we should be able to bring in Shaun Wright-Phillips and Younes Kaboul, or maybe not....
Luiz Felipe Scolari has come out and said that "SWP" is in his plans for the current season. Whether he means that or is saying that as a means to bump his price up, who knows?
Harry Redknapp has also said that we're "third in the queue" behind Sunderland and Villa to sign Younes Kaboul. This comes two days after him claiming that he was virtually in the bag. So what is going on there?
There have also been rumours that Celestine Babayaro will be offered a permanent deal and that gossip has been enforced by the injury to Noe Pamarot that will rule him out of the start of the season.
Kanu is also expected to sign a deal this week but you can never be sure about him can you?
The only fact of today is that Muntari is gone and we have a nice wad of cash to blow on strengthening the squad as a result.
