Firstly, apologies for the lack of articles recently. Technical difficulties have meant that I haven't been able to keep track of the supposed takeover of PFC by Ramon Vega.
That would be ex-Tottenham defender Ramon Vega who has a firm interest in banking and financial management since he retired in 2003. The former Swiss international is reportedly fronting a European consortium interested in buying Portsmouth Football Club.
There are rumours going around saying that representatives of Sacha Gaydamak have met Vega and co. on more than one occasion and that a deal could be announced by the end of the week. However, Pompey spokesman Gary Double has insisted that no official offer has been made.
I hope that some formal offer is made soon, as I feel the longer Sacha is looking for a buyer means the longer we have to wait for a permanent manager to take the reins as any new owners would surely want their own man in.
But would Vega be the right man to take over? Fans are skeptical but our current situation is a mess with Sacha unwilling to invest any more money into the club or the ongoing projects that have had to be put on hold.
So if Vega has the know-how and more importantly, the money to help this club progress then I'm all for it. My main hope though is that these reports of bankers calling in a £25 million loan from Gaydamak are false otherwise that could see us well and truly in the proverbial.
In other news Sven Goran Eriksson has fallen down the bookies' pecking order to become the next Pompey manager as the Mexican FA are adamant that he is staying in charge of their national team for the next two games.
This means that Avram Grant is now the frontrunner again although interestingly Slaven Bilic is now the second favourite with Paul Hart just behind.
I'm not expecting an announcement anytime soon though...
