Pompey have wasted no time in signing new players with Aaron Mokoena joining the club from Blackburn Rovers on a free transfer.
The news hasn't been officially reported by Portsmouth FC yet but the player himself has declared that he is coming to Pompey for first-team football after finding appearances hard to come by at Ewood Park.
The 28-year-old South African has been signed on a three year deal as he looks to impress before the World Cup in 2010 where South Africa are the host nation.
The positive news regarding this transfer is that he is better than Hughes and Mullins and can provide a real grit in the midfield if next season is as difficult as most expect it to be.
He will collect a lot of cards though because he has a habit of chopping down players (hence his nickname "The Axe"). I'm not sure if you remember but he was particularly dirty in a game against us at Fratton Park a few years ago where the ref failed to send him off despite numerous offences.
This news may also mean that Sean Davis is going to leave us for nothing in the near future as he hasn't signed a new contract as of yet and given that he and Mokoena are very similar players, I'd expect that Aaron has been signed to replace Sean rather than partner him.
Welcome to Portsmouth, Aaron.
