Redknapp has admitted that he's "never seen him play before" but there was no doubt that the new gaffer was impressed by what he saw against Burnley on Saturday.
Migsy added composure and class to Pompey's back line - something he does wherever he plays but impressed me with his new defensive prowess. Strong in the air and visibly buliker, Stefani combined power with skill in the twenty minutes he was on. There were at least three bits of trademark skill from the young American and comparisons with Rio Ferdinand, Bobby Moore and Franz Beckenbaeur can be made.
Redknapp told The News: 'Miglioranzi was different class. I thought I was watching Franz Beckenbauer out there, The boy's got ability. I've never seen him play before. But when he came on he looked superb. He's my type of player. He moved up to help the midfield and wanted to play football.'
Redknapp is famed for his admiration for sweepers and tried to mould Rio Ferdinand into Bobby Moore while at West Ham. It is likely that Migsy will get his chance in the remaining three games of the season. Although he is not taking his rightful mantle as Pompey's playmaker in chief, there is no doubt that Stefani has the ability to excel as sweeper in the first division. It could just be the bit of class that Pompey need.
