Tony Adams has named former Tottenham and Nottingham Forest midfielder John Metgod as the new Pompey first-team coach. The 50-year-old has signed a three year deal with the club.
Metgod left his coaching role at Feyenoord and told the media that the offer was "too good to resist" (where have we heard those words before?) and as part of a backroom shuffle, Paul Groves has now been promoted from reserve team coach to assistant first-team coach.
Metgod was before my time but I'm told that he was a brilliant free kick taker so hopefully he can teach a few of our players a thing or two about set-pieces.
In other news, South African group Central Rand Gold have denied that they are interested in buying Portsmouth FC. The spokesman for the company said that their chief executive, Greg James, met with Sacha Gaydamak on behalf of Prosport International with regards to the January transfer window.
Whether that's a good or bad thing, who knows?
