Today Pedro Mendes has signed a new deal at Portsmouth that will keep him at the club for another four years. That's another key player who won't be going anywhere for a while then!
With all of these players signing new deals, I'd have to speculate that perhaps wages for these players will have risen so that they would be closer to parity with the imminent new faces we're going to be bringing in? If the likes of Anelka and Fernandes do sign then it could unsettle some of our better players if their wages aren't as high as those of the new faces, therefore they might question how the board value them at the club. Of course, I could just be talking out of my arse!
Either way, it's good to see that Mendes is here for the long haul (in theory anyway). After all, he did score one of Pompey's most important goals ever! Not to mention his other qualities too.
I'll stop waffling now and notify you all that I'll be at West Leigh Park later today for our friendly against Havant and Waterlooville so check back later this evening to read my thoughts on tonight's events.
