King Kanu has signed a one month deal with Pompey, whilst Martin Cranie has signed for Championship side Coventry City for an undisclosed fee.
The fee received for Cranie is believed to be over £500,000 and I can't see any Pompey fans missing him too much. He showed plenty of promise at times but he didn't cover himself with glory when playing against Championship opposition in the FA Cup last season.
Whilst Cranie's exit means another player out of the door I don't think he'll ever make it at the top level and so it was probably best to let him get on with his career now.
As for Kanu, it makes sense to have him on a "trial basis" so to speak and if he is fit then I still believe he has something to offer us from the bench, especially if we need someone to hold the ball up and open up the game for other players.
If he can't do the business any longer then we'll not have wasted any of our very limited resources on a lengthy contract as every penny counts at the moment.
Welcome back King, even if it is only for a month....
