Nwankwo Kanu has finally signed a new one-year deal with Portsmouth with the option of another year if he plays the required amount of games.
It looked like there would be a repeat of last season's shenanigans when it took until the end of August for Kanu to sign a new deal after demanding more than a year but Peter Storrie has convinced him to sign the contract offered.
The 32-year-old Nigerian is currently injured but there is a chance he will feature at Wembley for a third time having scored both the winners in the FA Cup semi-final and final.
Kanu told the official site: "I love it here and I want to be part of the team so I'm happy I've signed my new contract."
I think it's going to be much harder for him to play the required number of games this season as Crouch and Defoe are going to be extremely hard to budge out of the first team.
I'll be happy if he continues to make the impact he has on this club as he has the last two years, that's for sure.
