The Younes Kaboul transfer saga is finally over after the Frenchman penned a four-year deal with Pompey.
The 22-year-old centre back has signed from Tottenham for a fee believed to be around £5 million. Harry had been tracking Kaboul for two years when he was at Auxerre and has finally got his man after he endured a torrid season at White Hart Lane.
The France Under-21 defender arrived at Spurs as a very highly rated player but despite his clear potential he made too many costly errors that saw him fall out of favour with Juande Ramos.
Many Spurs fans believe that with the right coaching he could become a top quality player and with the experienced defenders we have at Pompey along with a great defensive coach/assistant manager in Tony Adams then hopefully we can see an improvement in his game.
Sol Campbell isn't going to feature in every game this season, especially with the extra UEFA Cup games to be played and his lack of pace (as highlighted yesterday) is going to be a problem.
Kaboul could be his natural replacement as he is quick and should form an understanding with his French compatriot Sylvain Distin. He would also give us an extra attacking threat as he likes to get forward (perhaps too much at times) so hopefully we will see a goal or two from our newest recruit.
When Kaboul arrived at Portsmouth he told the press: "It wasn't a different choice to make coming here. Everyone in the papers kept saying I was going to Sunderland or Aston Villa but I wanted to come here straight away."
I think that for the price stated that Kaboul could be one of the acquisitions of the season if he lives up to his obvious potential and irons out the problems he showed when playing in a shaky Spurs back line.
If he doesn't, then expect the new Pompey number three to feature in many journalists "top ten bad buys of the season" as well as many unwanted comparisons to Titus Bramble.
Welcome to Portsmouth, Younes!
