International Rescue

I remember the days that "International Weekend" meant a week off for Pompey players. But no more! Everyone's involved these days! You don't believe me? Well here's a round-up (although, to be fair, this does include people who no longer play for us, but included for the sake of nostalgia)...

Present

Zvonimir Vukic
- The star of the night; scored for Serbia in their 2-0 win over Lithuania.
Brian Priske - Played 90 minutes for Denmark against the European champions Greece.
Dario Silva - Returned from international retirement for Uruguay's game against Ecuador. Good old Delgado also managed ninety minutes for the visitors, bless his multi-million rip off socks
Kostas Chalkias - Dropped by the European champions Greece. Whoops!
Richard Duffy - Came on as a substitute for Wales against Northern Ireland.
Andy O'Brien - unused sub for ROI against Cyprus in their 1-0 win. What a lazy bastard eh - didn't even come off the bench!
John Viafara - Dropped from the Colombia squad after the birth of his first child. Rock n' roll.
Alexander Rodic - Came off the bench in Slovenia's 1-0 defeat to Italy, making an all important impression in the last... er... three minutes.

Past

Peter Crouch - Played 90 minutes up front for England. Hell, even Micheal Owen got substituted instead of Crouchy. Who'd have thought that someone we sold back in the dark old days of Division One would establish themselves as an international regular for the European champions.
Nigel Quashie - On the bench at Scotland lost 1-0 to Belarus (don't laugh).
Carl Robinson - A former Pompey lad who scared in the 3-2 win against Northern Ireland.
Shaka Hislop - On the bench vs Panama for Trinidad and Tobago.
Diomansy Kamara and Amdy Faye - both subs in 3-0 win over Mali for Senegal.
