Pompey fans will be exploring new territory tomorrow with hope that their team can record a massive win against Hull City.
The Tigers lay just a point above us who are only three points above the relegation zone ourselves so a win for either team tomorrow would be a huge step to safety with the losers nervously looking over their shoulders.
The Tigers had a sensational start to the season but have only won two of their last 21 games, hence why they have slipped so far down the table. They also have been beaten eight times at the KC Stadium which is more than any other top flight club this season, so I quite fancy our chances of a result.
Phil Brown has a near full strength squad to choose from with just long-term absentees Jimmy Bullard and George Boateng out and Gabon striker Daniel Cousin a doubt.
Paul Hart has been handed a massive boost with Jermaine Pennant's early return from injury and he will go straight back into the side, which will allow Glen Johnson to drop back into the right back position.
Peter Crouch has scored four goals in three games for club and country so he is a good bet to get on the scoresheet again but as I seem to keep repeating, we need some of the other players to chip in too because we can't keep relying on the big man to keep us up singlehandedly.
The defence will certainly have their part to play as Hull seem to be very strong at set-pieces whilst Geovanni likes to score the odd spectacular goal. The most important thing is that we match their workrate and commitment because we unquestionably have better players than them.
That will mean nothing if we don't match their attitude though but we've shown a new grit under Paul Hart that was lacking under Tony Adams and so I think the least we will get is a draw tomorrow.
Don't make me eat my words Pompey!
