Wolves manager Mick McCarthy has given Pompey permission to extend Greg Halford's loan spell at the club until the end of the season.
Steve Cotterill spoke to the Wolves manager and has been given the green light for the right back to stay at Fratton Park for the rest of the campaign. Originally, Halford would have had to return to his parent club after the home game with Hull on January 3rd.
Providing Halford signs, this is good news as it gives Pompey an extra body and Halford has grown into his role at the club, with performances gradually improving although I'm still unconvinced about his positioning.
What Halford does give you is an aerial threat as well as the ability to run down the wing and provide crosses for other players. He can also take a good set-piece and possesses a long throw, although we are yet to see the best of it.
His versatility also comes in handy if Cotterill happens to be short at centre back or at right midfield, so his addition to the squad for the rest of the season is a welcome one in foresight.
Happy to have you on board for the duration, Greg! Presuming you want to stay and Chainrai and co. allow it, of course!
