As expected, Pompey fans have been allocated just under 25,000 tickets for the FA Cup Final at Wembley.
This means that around 8,000 fans who went to the semi-final are certain to miss out in favour of "FA members" and the prawn sandwich brigade which I think is completely wrong but predictable all the same.
I know I'm genuinely worried about not getting a ticket along with many others who will be forced to either fork out their life savings for a ticket from a tout or will have to watch elsewhere. Cardiff fans have received the same allocation.
In addition to that, the prices have skyrocketed to £95, £80, £65 and £35 for adults (knock a tenner off those prices for concessions). We'd better start planting those money tree seeds....
On the subject of money, Pompey have announced losses of £23 million for the financial year ending May 2007. So if you have a penny in your possession or have debts of up to £22,999,999.99 then you are currently richer than Portsmouth Football Club.
In seriousness, this was to be expected with the massive wage bill we have at the club but the new TV deal with the Premier League should ensure that Gaydamak and co. will recoup that money. If not, it looks like they'll be the ones needing to plant a money tree!
Back to the FA Cup news, the club have confirmed that allocation details will be released on Monday and also that Pompey will be wearing the same all-blue strip that we beat West Brom in and will be using the same dressing room. The 25,000 Pompey fans who can get tickets will be sat in the same end as they were for the semi-final after Peter Storrie won the toss to decide these factors.
Mike Dean will be the referee for the Final. I remember that he took charge of our game at Reading when he harshly sent off one of their players early on and gave us the majority of the decisions. He comes across as quite petty but hopefully he won't ruin what may be a great game.
That's your lot. We'll have to wait until Monday before the real uproar begins!
