Andy Awford has decided against renewing Michael Drennan's loan spell and thus he has returned to parent club Aston Villa after his one-month loan spell expired.
The 20-year-old failed to score in his second spell at Pompey and after he was left out of the squad yesterday the writing was on the wall.
This is undoubtedly the right decision from the manager as Drennan was too similar to Miles Storey but the Swindon loanee has more to offer. Drennan hasn't been too impressive in either spell at Fratton Park and he almost certainly won't make the grade at Villa.
Still, we wish him the best and it probably won't be too long until we see Michael again playing for another League Two club.
