Dodgy Barnets

I don't know what it is about Portsmouth Football Club, but many of our players have some pretty strange haircuts! It can safely be said that the style of the fluent football our players are capable of do not match the messy style of hair on their heads!

David James is the perfect example of how not to do hair. He's always been a player known for his unique hairstyles but he took it to another level with his "superman" at Newcastle and Liverpool. That 60's haircut drew wolf whistles from the Anfield crowd whilst the away fans started chanting "Adolf, give us a wave!" He has since tried to rid himself of the image back home, but it's going to forever live in the memory I'm afraid Jamo!

But the buck doesn't stop there. In front of James is one of our most loyal servants in Linvoy "Predator" Primus. Linvoy's hairstyle is probably the most distinctive in English football since Jason Lee's infamous "Pineapple Head" cut at Nottingham Forest. But it's hard to imagine him without it isn't it? It's almost like it's been implanted into his head, never to be removed. Still, at least you can recognise him from the top row of St. James' Park which is more than can be said for any other player!

Then we have the battle of the barnets! Sean Davis has the mullet the size of a birds nest while Gary O'Neil soon won't be scoring with his missus if he keeps failing to find the net. I'm sure I'm not the only one who's surprised that our runaway player of the season last year has not managed a single goal this campaign and if I remember rightly, Davis has come the closest as he has hit the bar a few times. Who will win this titanic battle of hair vs hair? Personally I think if either of them fail to score this season they should be forced to go for the "Sol Campbell" look next term.

There's plenty of other players worth mentioning too.

Pedro Mendes might be a great player, but his girly pony tail isn't exactly a traditional English football players look is it? Despite being only 20-years-old Manuel Fernandes sports an afro that would make you think he was born in the 70's. Benjani's hair is more messy than a bowl of spaghetti, Kanu's braids have always looked a bit feminine and LuaLua's old mohawk cut didn't really suit him did it?

And let's not forget last season. Andres D'Alessandro's dodgy pony tail couldn't have impressed Trinny and Sussanah whilst Franck Songo'o sported some sort of "gangsta" look.

I personally don't see why they just don't go for the stylish, youthful look of thin, balding hair like I do.
