Pompey have signed ex-Manchester City defender Sylvain Distin for free on a 3-year-deal.
The signing of the centre back was announced at a lunchtime press conference today. Pompey were also hoping to announce the club record signing of Sulley Muntari but there's still a few details to iron out before his capture is made official.
Distin, 29, is likely to be a first choice centre-back alongside Sol Campbell. I believe this is an excellent bargain for the club despite the rumoured £40,000 a week wages the Frenchman will be on. He's quick, strong and reads the game well. Linvoy is going to have his work cut out getting back into the side in the summer.
Pompey are also rumoured to announce the signings of Titus Bramble and Hermann Hriedarsson later this week. Both have been released by their clubs and are available on free.
Welcome to Pompey Sylvain Distin!
